Johor Bagus!

After our inebriated night at Dragonfly on Saturday, we still managed to haul our asses to Johor Bahru the next day.

We made our way across the causeway chanting, "He Por! He Por!" (Crayfish).

The girls went giddy in the hair accessories shop, while the boys went giddy stocking up on PS games. *roll eyes*

Had a feast for dinner. There were seven of us - we ordered eight dishes. Happening or what?

Hehe.

*burp*

Acting silly! (trust me, we were generating lots of stares)
And I love Ron's Bunny Wabbit ears!

*chewchew*

The Happy Munchers.

Now THATS a feast! ;)

Dragon Flies

Celebrated Daren’s belated 30th birthday with a bout of blatant, drunken debauchery at Dragonfly.

We planned for weeks to get Daren drunk and aimed for the rest of the boys to follow.

(Honestly.. I think they just wanted a big excuse to get terribly drunk… ;p)

I was so terrified about going to Dragonfly... I mean, they have a singer called William Scorpion with China backup dancers. *cringe*

But my fears were confounded coz I wasn’t listening to him half the time. We were too busy having our own fun and doing the stupidest things. We were probably the most uncool bunch at dragonfly.. but who cares!

We were high… on fun! (and drinks la. We are not THAT square.)

So we finally succeeded on getting two boys down (I won’t mention names here ;p) and the girls survived! Success! ;)

Enjoy the crazy pics!
.
Happy Birthday Daren!

Birthday boy!

Izzit just me or are there lots of "V" signs going on? ;p

Angie with Tim. *nudgewink*

With my dearies!

This joker cut right into our path as we were taking pics! He looks so ridiculous, I had to put this pic up! hahahaha (MEANIE....)

*blush*

Geri the Barmaid. Still mixing drinks even when Im off work... ;p

Groupies... ;p

Go Daren Go!

And Its ALL GOOD!
.

We loved the wall paper so much... we started using it as a backdrop. And that's when all the stupid poses started coming out. Its the alcohol. I swear.

And now you know why none of us ever got spotted by elite models ;p

Met an Ah Beng Stalker. He took one look at me and guessed, "You are a Stewardess rite?" I didn't even have red nails. How did he guess?!
.
Darn. I look so typical.

Judging Geri

I had two different people comment the same thing to me recently, "From how you look, It doesnt seem to match your true personality leh..."

I was honestly quite shocked.

They assume all I read are fashion mags and I that I'm prissy and dainty.

One was shocked when I whipped out my National Geographic magazine from my handbag.

And I was honestly quite embarrassed when I showcased my boring DVD collection where half of them were BBC documentaries.

The truth is...

Im very happy when a new copy of Reader's Digest is out.

My favourite sound are of frogs croaking after the rain.

I love walking in the rain.

I eat huge burgers with my hands.

I need open spaces and greenery.

I was a Librarian for 4 years for God's sake.

I admit. I am a Geek.

Origami Love

The Steamboat Gang was urgently activated by Ming Han to help him fold paper cranes for his film project. (You know.. those typical TCS drama 1000 paper cranes to show love etc etc...TCS Script writers... get some new material PLEASE!)

Without hesitation, Ron, Keong, Angie and myself turned up at Vivo City and sat in Carl's Junior for 4 hours folding paper cranes. (Imagine! Keong folding paper cranes! He won't even fold a shirt. Hehehe...)

I guess it's no big deal really... But as I sat there folding my paper crane.. I looked at my friends and felt my heart give a litte squeeze.

If I ever need help... even something as silly as folding paper cranes... I sure as hell know who to call.

:)

Love you all. *Squeezey hug*

Well.. even if I never get on TV.. at least my paper cranes will!
I can't wait for their cameo appearance. ;)

Lesson Time!

Now that Joshie is being home schooled by my sis, I decided to join him for his Mandarin lesson the other day...

And I have discovered that the standard of my Mandarin is of Nursery Level (or possibly even worse...).

Geez. Even I disgust myself.

But I really had such fun in the class. I know I don't say it often enough to my sister, but I really think she is doing a great job teaching my nephew and the other pre-schoolers in her music class.

As I sit in with Joshua during her group lessons, I, as an adult, get so involved in the class that I forget about Josh and want to be the one beating the drums and learning rhythms!

If anybody knows me, Im the biggest critic and an even bigger skeptic.

But when I look at my sister's work, how the little kids respond to her and the results which come out of it... I know that her program will be a roaring success. :)

And I know that most of all, she just wants her students to say, "I've got music in me!"

6.07

So now that you people are gonna be RICH... (Note: Only applies to the people who sit in the front of the plane and the people who sit in the office. We, who push carts, are very poor. Really.)

Who wants to join me in opening the first Krispy Kreme outlet in Singapore?

I can chip in to buy the flour.

All I ask for is a job as QC Inspector. You know.. I stand at the end of the machine where the doughnuts pop out and I taste them to see if they pass muster.

*chomp*

No wait... I need to taste another one.

*chomp*

*chompchompchomp*

Hee.

The Adventures of Chicken Tikka.

You know you love your mummy so much when you would practically risk your life just to buy her three pieces of her favourite Chicken Tikka.

When my mum heard I was going to Dubai, she turned to me and simply said, " I want three pieces, non-spicy."

Yes of course, Your Highness.

So I ventured out on my last day in Dubai to get her desired chicken...

I left my hotel at 10:45am (I had a fitful nights sleep, which resulted in me awaking at 7am). I intended to just run out, hop on a cab, grab her chicken and go back to my hotel and nap before work.

As always, things in my life are never so simple.

Now the last time I actually went by myself to buy the chicken was one year ago (and even then I had company.). I don't know the address, and the only point of navigation I knew was from the now-defunct Intercontinental Hotel.

Gosh. Tat was a long time ago... : /

Anyway..

So I dropped off at the hotel and TRIED desperately to remember my way from there. I walked around... TRYING not to look lost and not to stick out like a sore I-obviously-do-not-come-from-your-country thumb.

Now remember, I have a broken compass built into my head.

So I walked. Heart thumping.. plams sweating.. praying in my heart I was walking in the right direction and that those bearded men would stop looking so strangely at me.

And there.. that area looked familiar. I remember walking that same place in the searing heat before.

I picked up my pace, walking more confidently and TAH DAH! The Tikka Shop! I was SO relieved. I took off my sunglasses and pushed the door.. and pushed.. and drat it! The store wasn't even open YET.

Oh how typical of my life.

The sign I spotted proudly proclaimed that the store would open at 12noon. It was only 11am. What the hell was I going to do in this God-forsaken part of town for one hour???

I wanted to sit on the curb and wail.

But NO! Geri is not so weak.

I have come so frickin far, I will NOT go back to my hotel without the damn chicken!

So I decided to go to the City Centre to get Krispy Kremes for everyone.

I spent the next 15mins franctically trying to hail a cab. Almost giving up, I spotted an empty cab and literally CHASED after it while it had stopped at a red light. I flung the door open, panting heavily I wailed to the driver, "to the City Centre PLLEEAASSEE????"

Oh the poor terrified cabbie.

He never stood a chance.

So he drove me to the City Centre. And that's how all of you (alright..FINE. The THREE of you) got your Krispy Kremes.

And yup... I finally got the chicken.

I knew it was all worth the effort as I watched my mum happily chew on the drumstick.

The People's Republic

Finally I had a chance to go sightseeing in China!
.
Its so hard to find like-minded kaki's to go sightseeing, you know? ;)
.
Rushed down with Cat and Aiman to Tianamen Square in the evening to catch their flag lowering ceremony.
.
We waited for the sun to set (as that is when they will lower the flag).. and waited.. and waited.
.
We waited for an hour, squashed amongst the crowd of very excited Chinamen (and women) ;p
.
After piquing the curiosity of some Chinese ladies next to us with my Indian accent (I was doing my classic Indian impersonations), we ended up chatting with them (they wanted to know where I was from..hahaha) and found out they were visiting Beijing from another part of China.
.
"What time will the flag lowering ceremony start?", Cat asked. In her perfect, china accented mandarin. I just kept mum. If anybody knows me... My Mandarin sucks.
.
"7.20pm", she replied.
.
It was 6.50pm and we had already waited for an hour.
.
We asked if she had waited long. She said, "Its doesn't matter. I can stand here and look at our flag for a long time."
.
OKAY... wow.
.
She is one patriotic woman.
.
Three of us then decided not to wait amongst the crowd anymore, and come back at 7.20pm.
.
While snapping pics at 7:15pm, we turned back to see the flag gone and the soldiers marching away.
.
Dammit.
.
How typical of my life.
.
Tianamen Square

It really is a huge square!
.

Cat and Me.. acting cute. hee.
.

Looks familiar? That's Mr. Sun Yat Sen :)
.

I was so hoping they would start marching in that menacing communist style, with their legs straight instead of bent. They didnt. Oh darn.
.

Thats the Forbidden City in the background. I must go next time :)

Bored and stuck amongst the crowd. So.. take stupid pics la. ;)

*waves my little red book*

If there is nothing else worth living for... there are always Krispy Kremes.

Lugged four boxes home from Dubai today.

One for Me.
One for Jie.
One for Angie.
One for Ron.

:)

I Dont Know Why Im Upset... But I Am.

I got upset last night.

With someone I NEVER got upset with.

Somehow, something hurt me.

Coz I feel that I don't know anything?

That I always have to pretend I don't know anything?

That no one ever takes me seriously?

That although Ive been hurt so badly.. I never ever show it.

Im sick of crying alone.

I dont want to pretend that everything is ok.

Im just so tired.

That Little Square Foil Packet

Was walking round the cabin the other day, when I spotted a little brown packet on the floor.

And me, being the bodoh idiot that I usually am, bent down to pick it up and failed to not immediately realise what it was.

Wondering what it was, I took a closer look and spotted the words "ultra thin latex condom.."

And I freaked.

I gingerly held it at arms length with my fingertips and hurriedly threw it into the bin.

Did I unwittingly foil an attempt at the Mile High Club? Oh well.. TOO BAD.

See? Im so innocent. *adjusts halo*

Burnt.

Went to Sentosa today...

There was barely any sun.

It even rained.

I sat in the shade 3/4's of the time.

And yet, I still got sunburned.

What the hell...
