A Mountain In My Closet...

I went shopping when I was in Perth recently... and I bought MORE shoes (note the "s".. ;p) back in Singapore yesterday. Did quite a bit of shopping, so I was very relieved when I finally met with Keong in the evening..

Geri: Oh! Hi Dear!

*shoves shopping bags into his arms*

Jem: Hi!...*OOF* dear.

Geri: Lalalalaa... *trots off to do more shopping*

hehehe.. Honest. Im not kidding. ;p

ANYWAY, I decided, "Geri, its time to clear out your closet..."

So I flung open my closet door and just pulled everything out... clothes, lingerie.. EVERYTHING.

I didn't bother to mull over every piece of clothing. If it hadn't been worn in the past 1/2 year.. Its out of the closet.

So there I was, standing between my closet doors, flinging items of clothing over my shoulder...

"Nope.. " *fling*
"I used to wear THIS??!" *fling*
"I cant believe I was so skinny!!" *wail* *fling*

After working up quite a sweat with all that flinging, I turned and... WOAH. I couldnt believe the MOUNTAIN that had erupted before me. I couldn't see the peak beyond the clouds... the eagles were soaring overhead... the snow-capped... okok. Im exaggerating. But you get the idea.

I christened it, Mt. Geri'sOldClothes.

;p

I had to climb up and down my stairs 5 times to bring all my clothes down. The Karanguni Man is gonna have such a field day.

Out with the Old....

In with the New!

I swear as I was falling asleep that night, I heard my closet breathe a sigh of relief and whisper to me, "Thank you".

Well. You're welcome Mr. Closet. But not for long.... *evil laugh*

Happy Birthday Angie! (& Super Belated B'Day to Me!)

It was Angie's Bday yesterday!

*whee!*

Since our birthdays are exactly one week apart, the gang always celebrates our birthdays together. (I know, I know... probably everyone is thinking, you're STILL celebrating your birthday?! ;p)

They surprised us at our favourite Dempsy Road wine place with a cake and a loud, rambunctious rendition of "Happy Birthday". So Schweet hor Angie?

Anyway I spotted 25 candles on the cake. Guys.. you got it wrong. It's supposed to be 23.

;p

What else is crazier? They brought along the board game, Cranium! So we were hooting and laughing and probably driving all the other patrons mad with our antics. It was such an interesting mix... Fine wine and Cranium.... :)

After that, we got thirsty for beer so we headed off to Ice Cold Beer and spent the rest of the night guzzling beer and chicken wings (LOVE THEIR CHICKEN WINGS).

Thanks again everyone!

And Happy Birthday again sweetie! ;)

Surprise!

The Birthday Girl, Angie and the EX-Birthday Girl, Geri. Hehehe.

Pucker up and Blow! *Phoo!*

Like as though we cutting our Wedding Cake.. Hehe.

Prize giving ceremony.. Haha. Actually we are getting our presents!

One of the nicest group pics we have ever taken! Maybe can try and photoshop Sharon and MH into the pic... ;p

Playing Cranium!

My Forbidden Fruitcakes! Hahaha... ;p

Forbidden Fruit

Ok so this entry has nothing to do with forbidden fruit... Well, maybe Angie can be the forbidden fruit.. And Tiffany has forbidden fruits. (well.. melons more like it. ;p)

*grinz*

Thank God Tiff doesnt read my blog.

But I digress.

We had a nice Girls Night Out to the theather yesterday! Went to catch Forbidden City with Tiffany and Angie.

I enjoyed it very very much. :)

I really thought it was very well done for a local production. Who says Singapore has no talent?

Cheah.

I was very plesantly surprised. Guess you can always count on Dick Lee for a good musical.

As we were leaving the Esplanade in a cab, I spotted some IMF delegates (I know for a FACT they are delegates coz they were wearing their damn passes) and they were taking a photo of our Singaporean "White Knight" with his "White Steed", (i.e. Our Singapore Traffic Policeman and his bike). They actually asked the policeman to pose next to his bike.

Really.

And "Dear Mr. Policeman" (ok.. only those of us who studied in the 80's would know wat "Dear Mr. Policeman" is...) gladly obliged and gallantly posed next to his gleaming bike.

I know. Its like, wtf rite?

Its ok Mr. Policeman. We are all at the mercy of the IMF...

;p

So I was exclaiming to the girls and we were all staring at them with thoroughly amused/bemused expressions and the next thing you know, those two delegates spotted us and pointed their camera at us. All three of us started shrieking in the cab. Of course, Tiff was the loudest. (typical)(Haha. Love u girl.) She was shrieking, "Uncle! Faster drive off!". Angie was just going, "arrgh" and as for me, after staring and blinking at the camera with a DeerCaughtintheHeadlights expression, I composed myself, gave my best "Welcome to Singapore" smile and did the "Mr. President/First Lady" wave.

They waved back.

Whahahaha. *wink*

As our cab drove off, Tiff said, "We should have each given them the finger."

Angie and I were like, "NO! We have to welcome them with Four Million Smiles, remember?"

Wow. We are like... so brainwashed man. ;p

*PASTE ON BIG SMILE*

With my Forbidden Fruitcakes... ;)

With Tiffy before heading into the theather. (Oei. You. Stop trying so hard to stare at her Forbidden Fruits. *slap* ;p)

Snapped IN the concert hall. Nearly kena scolding by the ushers. hahaha. WHO CARES. *tbbph*

Love you girls!

*kiss*

A Very Nice Day... :)

I had a very nice, simple birthday :)

Picked Joshie and my sis up in the morning to have breakfast (at Chin Mee Chin! *YUM*) then headed to East Shore to see Joshie's Pediatrician to get his shots.

He was such a brave boy at the doctor's! He had two shots but he barely cried! Stef was so proud of him... :)

I love the fact that he can sing Queen's, "We Will Rock You". SO damn cute. OOH.

Met up with Jem in the evening for dinner. He brought me to Fort Canning's Flutes at the Fort.

:)

Very nice ambience. Although it was pretty crowded...

I forgot to bring my camera so i used my handphone's camera. Argh. So lousy. Disappointing.

Nevertheless.. it was a very nice dinner :)

Jem gave me a surprise with a lovely Birthday dessert tray. Heh. I felt bit paiseh though... ;p

All in all... it was a very nice birthday.

Exactly how I like it to be. ;)

CHIEEZ!

Well that's how Josh says "Cheese!" and thats what he said the moment i pointed my camera at him. :)

My Sweetums..

Dinner at the Fort

We had to climb many flight of steps just to get to the restaurant. I took off my heels after the first flight. My feet were screaming. I started screaming too when Jem pointed out the bats flapping around overhead.

A grinning, happy me. haha.

Our Fancy-Schmancy Food. ;)

My Dessert surprise!

Thanks dear... and to everyone for their birthday wishes! :)

Happy Bird Day

Yea well.. so. Its here.

The B-Day.

I hate to say this. But somehow... I dun feel like celebrating.

Well. Its like.... 25.

Its not like.. Sweet 16, Independent 21.. or even HittingYourPeak at 30.

Its Quarter Life Crisis at 25.

Somehow its like I'm at that teetering edge of the loss of youth.

Suddenly I only have 5 more years to be in the optimal age margin to give birth.

It struck me that I can no longer say, "I'm in my early twenties".

Okok.. now i gotta look at the bright side before everyone starts stoning me for being so negative...

Well I'm a better person now than I was.. a year... 2 years ago? DUH.

I've lost all my naive, happy-go-lucky innocence... but I'm glad i lost all that akwardness with myself.

I dun feel so... uncomfortable? I guess more... confident. I guess i have this boh-cap, dun give a damn, grab life by the balls attitude now. Well, i figure doing what I do everyday does this to you... or either that you wither and die.

I'm Here World. Watch Me. *struts out*

Hahaha. ;p

Anyway Angie just sms-ed me that she found a pigeon on top of her wardrobe in her bedroom. Wat the.... And this is her GodKnowsHowMany-eth encounters with the feathered kind in her bedroom... And she lives in a 1oth Floor HDB Maisonette for God's sake. They must feel some kindred feelings for her. You know.. like Bert from Sesame Street..

Guess she could start a courier service with the pigeons visiting her... ;p

Ok thats lame. Shut up. Sorry Angie. *helps wipe bird plop off your wardrobe*

Anyway, I was kidding about being 25. I'm really only 23.

Really.

*blows out candle*

My N80's Here! :)

Lalala... me got my N80! Finally!

BUT!

Sooo many problems... Somehow there seems to be a myriad of obstacles Im hurtling myself over since getting this phone...

1. Jem got me the colour I din like.

He tot I would like glamglam silver. Well...

No.

Luckily managed to get it changed. So now its in the black colour I like. I'll be honest.. I knew the silver just wouldnt match the pink mickey mouse handphone strap I have.. ;p

2. SIM card numbers all GONE.

We tried to transfer all my numbers from my old phone to my SIM. And when I slotted in my SIM card to the N80. Only 5 useless numbers appeared.

My face turned white.

My heart stopped.

Okay.. so I lost all my numbers. Nevermind... Life goes on.

*screams in my mind* No it doesn't!!! *sobhicwail*

Dammit.

So now if I have no idea who you are when you call or sms me, or I go, "who the f**k are you?". I'm sorry.

3. "Tampines Street 45". Apparently those words are on my handphone's wallpaper and i cant seem to get rid of it. I cant figure out wat in the world is f**king "Tampines Street 45" supposed to mean. And yes.. i read the f**king manual..... bah.

Wah. Tat one REALLLYYY frustrated me.

I give up. I'm off to Nokia Care Centre tonight. *grumble mumble*

4. I had all along thought that I could hang my handphone accessories from the top of the handphone... which is one main reason why i chose this phone (its stupid i know.. but im a girl. So sue me.) but DAMN! I gotta hang it from the bottom! What I thought all along was the accessories' little hang-y bit is actually the phone's radio speaker.

I'm just Goondu lor.

Nevertheless. Im happy with my new phone. Thank u dearie. :)

Roma!

Oh how I love Rome!

The city is beautiful... the architecture astounding... ruins everywhere...

*sigh*

It didn't matter that I was down with a major sore throat and a runny nose.. Still CHIONG AH!!!!

On the first day we wandered around Rome's city area.. visited the Vittoriano E Piazza Venezia, the Trevi Fountain (Fontana Di Tevi) (Yep! That's the famous fountain where u throw a coin in backwards and make a wish), the Spainish steps (Piazza Di Spagna), did a little shopping (More GUCCI!*eep!*) and of course the Colosseum! Rounded off the day by talking a nice stroll through the ruins and was back in my room guzzling Panadol cold medicine. *bleah*

The next day we planned a trip to the Vatican City. But before we headed to the Vatican, we had a quick stop and breakfast outside the Pantheon (It was originally a pagan temple, and was later converted to a Christian Church in 608AD).

I mean, how many people in the world have a chance to sit just outside the Pantheon and have breakfast! I dun know if any of my colleagues felt the same way as me.. but I really felt so happy to munch on my sandwich, drink my cappucino and gaze at this famous building. :)

Off to Vatican City next!

First stop in the Vatican was the Musei Vaticani. I swear... Everywhere you walked was priceless artwork.. Up on the ceilings, along the wall.. literally EVERYWHERE.

Then we arrived at the Sistine Chapel.

It was like... Wow.

Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take any pics in the chapel, so I can't show you guys any pics. But take my word that it was beautiful ;)

We just stood there admist the crowd with our heads thrown back, staring at the ceiling of Michelangelo's "The Last Judgement" with our mouths agape. I guess you can imagine how we looked like. :)

Next we headed to St. Peter's Square and St. Peter's Basilica. Of course, again.. wowwowwow.

The Basilica was HUGE.

There were the tombs of all the different popes below the basilica, and of course, the tomb of the late Pope John Paul II was the most crowded... It was an honour for me to be there.

On the third day, Ivan and I decided to go head to Pisa and Florence (It was a totally last minute plan.. and I managed to convince Shirley to go with us. ;)). So we three intrepid travelers bravely set off with almost no clue on how to get around. Thank God we had some help and we were on our way!

It was a five hour train ride to Pisa. I just LOVE train rides :)

We just HAD to go to Pisa to view the leaning tower and of course, we couldn't leave without taking those TYPICAL corny pictures! We had such a blast doing those ridiculous poses!

It was another hour and a half journey to Florence (It was past 5pm when we finally arrived), but it was ok! Nothing would dampen our spirits!

Took a bus *with fingers and toes crossed*, and thankfully it got us to the Ponte Vecchio bridge, which means 'Old Bridge' in Italian. :) Saw all lovely sculptures (Michelangelo's "David".. the fake one..the real one was in the museum la.. heh.)

There were street artists everywhere and there was this busker who played the guitar so beautifully. It just seemed so right in that setting. Honestly… I thought it was so romantic.. *siiggghh*

Our last stop was to the Duomo, the fourth largest cathedral in the world. It was another really lovely building which took my breath away. I commented to Ivan and Shirely, "There's really nothing like religion to inspire Man to create such beautiful works of art, isnt it?"

Italy was almost nothing like I had ever experienced. The people (err. no comment), the sights... Absolutely Beautiful!

Ti Amo Roma! :)

Day One - Rome

The Vittoriano E Piazza Venezia. As I was taking this photo, an old security guard was standing next to Shirley (who was taking my pic) and grinning at me. After that he came up and mussed up my hair with his walkie talkie antenna. Wat the... hahaha...

At the Trevi Fountain

The Spanish Steps - The fountain is supposed to represent a ship that ran aground at that spot outside the steps during a river flood :)

Glorious Gelato! I literally had it every damn day! *urp*

*whee!* Grace and I with our prized purchases! hahaha... How suaku we must have looked! ;)

The maginificent Colosseum! Now where is that handsome Russel Crowe...

Lovely cobble stone path leading to the Arco di Tito.. Makes me wonder about the people who used to walk this exact same path.. Ancient Romans.. Gladiators.. sigh.

The Arco di Tito

The Foro di Cesare and a lovely ancient door which apprently still works!

Cindy and me! :)

Day Two - The Pantheon & Vatican City

Outside the Pantheon

Me. Pagan Goddess. Worship Me. *thunderlightning* Hahaha. ;p

Yummy-licious Hot Chocolate and Cappucino for breakfast! It was REALLY good. Really.

Along the corridors of the Musei Vaticani

A peek at the grounds of the Vatican... I wonder if the Pope takes a stroll in these gardens in the mornings...

The huge columns and grounds of St. Peter's Square

Yup its that famous balcony where you always see the Pope wave :)

Swiss Guard! *ooh!* So cuuuttee :)

Standing before the tomb of Pope John Paul II. I am truly humbled.

The gigantic dome designed by Michelangelo inside St. Peter's Basilica

The altar in the Basilica. Love how the ray of light shines down...

Day Three - Pisa & Florence

The Infamous Leaning Tower of Pisa. It really is tilted!

My fav pic! We were so excited taking this photo that we didn't notice Ivan's hands totally overshot the tower! Hahaha... damn cute.

The best pic we took! :) Nice rite!

At the Ponte Vecchio Bridge. Lovely view... :)

Horsing Around! Gettit? Hahaha.. argh. Corny.. ;p

The lovely facade of the Duomo.

Wow. I think this is the toughest and longest entry I have ever done.

You people had better enjoy it. ;p
