*Sings* Would U Like To Gooo.. To Saann Frann Ciscoo?

Okok... so i know this entry is like LOOONNNGGG overdue.. but heck yah? :)

So lets see...

I arrived to a windy, cold San Fran and proceeded to mentally bang my head on the wall as I was totally unprepared for the cold weather! How would I have known the wind was so bone chilling?? I actually had to buy winter clothes the next day....

The suaku "onlyknowonetypeofweather" Singaporean strikes again... ;p

So thank goodness I found one kaki to go sightseeing with me. We decided to make our way to Alcatraz the next morning and to our surprise , discovered it was "Fleet Week", where the US Navy ships and airforce were having a show at Fisherman's Warf.

Fisherman's Wharf

Ho Seh! Got US Navy boys for me to drool over..... ;)

We thankfully got ferry tickets to Alcatraz Island (although we bought them off this guy at blackmarket price... the ticket offices were all sold out days in advance...).

Nearly froze to death on the way over to Alcatraz... I was staring at the angmohs dressed in tanks and shorts... and I was dressed in a thick jacket and scarf. My outfit was screaming "TOURIST FROM WARM CLIMATE". They must have been staring as hard at me as I was at them.

Alcatraz was such an eyeopening experience... There were four Solitary Confinement Cells where other than the usual bars, there was a heavy metal cell door outside which cut out all the light into the cell. I just stood at the open door and looked in. I just couldn't make myself walk into that cell. I could just FEEL the anguish of all the past people locked in there. I can't explain it. I just could. Just thinking about it now gives me the shivers....

Alcatraz

On a happier note... I had clam chowder and deep fried seafood for dinner. After I ate that meal, I swore never to eat Long John Silver's ever again. My tastebuds have been "opened" to a whole new world. Sorry Johnny... but, you just... cannotmakeitlah. Sorry.

I also bought a SLICE of the most HEAVENLY Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake. *UMMMmmmm* *Orgasmic groan*. Note I put the word "SLICE" in caps... coz that damned slice cost me SGD16 bucks. I could buy a whole cake here.... but... what the hell yah?

There were lots of locals going up to shake hands with the Navy men and women and telling them how proud they were of them and what a good job they were doing with the war and all... I felt so touched... I know it sounds silly but I really felt patriotic.... I was watching the Navy Band put up a performance and I felt really proud of them... tears actually came to my eyes... Guess I really felt for the Americans then...

Caught the airshow by the famous "Blue Angels". Damn cool! Felt like a kid all over again :)

My first trip to America was totally eyeopening! The people... the culture... the food...

Oh Yah! I have to mention this incident.... I was walking along when this guy who walked by suddenly said to me "You look beautiful!" I whipped my head around with my heart pounding ready to kiss my American Prince Charming.... and it was this black dude wearing a cap with the price tag still hanging on....

Those Damn Americans....
